This highly visible position reports to the Chief Marketing Officer and provides strategic direction for our internal and external communications initiatives. Duties include developing and implementing communications strategies and plans for our centers of excellence; advising executives on high-level strategic communications initiatives; supervising communications staff; and managing the development of corporate collateral such as intranet content and the annual report. Additional responsibilities include managing budgets; writing key messages, talking points and speeches for members of our leadership team; hiring and training employees; assigning work schedules; and conducting employee performance evaluations.
Qualified applicants will have a bachelors degree (masters preferred) in communications, journalism, marketing, advertising or a related field. Experience developing and implementing communications plans for a large healthcare system is preferred. Knowledge of digital media is required. Our ideal candidate will also have 10 or more years of experience in communications, media relations or public relations with a healthcare system (should include well-rounded experience in all aspects of the communications mix, including the integration of internal and external communications). Exceptional leadership, organizational, writing and negotiating skills are crucial.
